Happy New Year!
Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter and welcome to the new subscribers. Many thanks to all that supported our efforts last year by purchasing our work and by providing wonderful feedback through our guestbook. Your support is highly encouraging.
Highlights from 2004
Last year marked a turning point in our lives. We had been working with our art on and off over many years and finally decided to take it a step further. As a result most of our efforts went into the launch of our studio and websites.
In addition, Marian started painting studies under the tutelage of Bill Newman at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. This initiated a new body of work exploring the nude figure. As part of these efforts, she also made a miniature self-portrait that was exhibited in a group show at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
Despite all the busyness we managed to go on a trip to California where we photographed and sketched in Muir Woods, Yosemite and Point Lobos, and had a wonderful visit with our friends Kim and Gina Weston. Kim makes beautiful and thought provoking photographs, and Kim and Gina have a very exciting website that we highly recommend. A few snapshots from the trip are posted in our events and guests photo album.
We also went on a trip to Toronto to visit our friends Yi-Tong Lok and Tok Lok who are both artists that make the most astounding paintings.
Plans for 2005
A lot of exciting new artwork is already in progress and we will work at growing our business this year. In addition, we are currently doing a remodeling of our studio to improve our work spaces.
Marian is working on new images for "Inner Venus" as well as two new bodies of work. One of these is a series of images that explores the nude figure. The other is a series of intimate and passionate flower portraits. One of these new images can also be viewed at the Masterpiece Arts Gallery under the still life section.
Two years ago, Ulrik decided to transition his printing from Ilfochrome printing in the darkroom to digital image processing and inkjet printing. This year, he is re-printing old favorites from "Ouroboros" and is also printing completely new images for this work.
We will keep you updated about all the activities during the year through our Quarterly Newsletters.
Print of the Month
If you are interested in our work we would like to make you aware of our print of the month program. Through this, we offer 8x10" prints of a new image every month for sale at close to half price.
The prints in the 2005 Ulrik Gliese Print of the Month portfolio are from "Ouroboros" and will represent a mix of old favorites and completely new images.
